WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please come ready to tell a shortish (1-2 minutes) story about a competition you were in in grade or middle school (i.e., sports, band, maybe even a spelling bee!).
READING: Sides from the script will be available at auditions and uploaded below along with the full script.
MUSIC: Prepare a 1-minute song for your audition, preferably a piece of contemporary musical theatre in the style of this show.
**Come prepared to play an accompaniment track with your audition. A Bluetooth speaker will be provided for you to play a track from. Alternatively, email an audio track ahead of time to production@cyranos.org.

Rehearsals: Beginning of November 2026 to mid-January ‘27. Rehearsals will be flexible around holidays and conflicts as much as possible.
An eclectic group of six mid-pubescents vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. While candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home lives, the tweens spell their way through a series of (potentially made-up) words, hoping never to hear the soul-crushing, pout-inducing, life un-affirming "ding" of the bell that signals a spelling mistake. Six spellers enter; Audience volunteers join as fellow spellers; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.
